Foods that are toxic to dogs

Keep these away from dogs, and call your vet immediately if they are eaten.
- Chocolate — especially dark and cooking chocolate
- Xylitol / birch sugar — in sugar-free gum, peanut butter, some baked goods. Extremely dangerous
- Grapes, raisins, sultanas, currants — can cause kidney failure at unpredictable doses
- Onions, garlic, leeks, chives — raw, cooked or powdered
- Macadamia nuts
- Alcohol and raw dough
- Cooked bones — splinter and perforate
- Corn on the cob — a classic cause of blockage
If they eat something
Do not wait for symptoms and do not try to make them vomit at home. Ring your vet with the food, the amount and the time.
