James Cockerill — Founder, James & Frankie Dog Training James is a canine communication specialist based in Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham, and the founder of James & Frankie Dog Training. His approach centres on Communicative Learning Theory (CLT) — a framework he developed that treats dog behaviour not as disobedience to be corrected, but as communication to be understood. Rather than relying on traditional command-and-response methods, James works with owners to decode what their dog is actually trying to say, building trust and cooperation from the ground up. James holds a certificate from the Dog Training College and is currently working towards full ABTC accreditation through PACT's APEL pathway. His work has been featured on BBC Midlands Today, and he's the published author of Beyond Obedience: The Communicative Learning Theory That Turns Dogs Into Companions. Alongside his training practice, James is active in local dog rescue work, advising rescue organisations on adoptions from a behavioural and communication standpoint. He trains dogs and their owners across Sutton Coldfield, Edgbaston, Sutton Park, and the wider West Midlands — often working alongside his own dog, Frankie, who serves as both training partner and the face of the brand.
