Clair Animal Education
I grew up in South Bristol with a lifelong passion for animals and wildlife. I now live with my husband, Jonathan, and our three Weimaraners, Atum, Ma’at and Heka. I particularly enjoy gundog training because it allows dogs to use their natural abilities. I have created a Foundation Gundog Skills course to help trainers develop the knowledge and practical skills needed to support owners with working dogs in domestic settings. I also enjoy conformation showing, and my youngest Weimaraner, Heka, has qualified for Crufts for the past four years. I hold Bachelor’s and postgraduate degrees in Animal Behaviour, Welfare and Training, as well as a Foundation Degree in Zoological Management. With over 27 years’ experience working across zoological collections, agriculture, television, veterinary and domestic settings, I have developed a broad understanding of animal care and behaviour. I also ran my own dog training and behaviour consultancy for 10 years and taught on the Dog Training College Certified Dog Trainer Course for four years. I currently work in further education, helping develop the next generation of animal care professionals. I am passionate about evidence-based education, ethical practice and supporting other professionals with their behavioural cases.
